Jazz singers! This one’s for you. If you love the sound of scat singing but are not sure how to start learning it, then I’ve got the perfect singing lesson today.

I’ll walk you through how to start getting some serious Scat Magic happening in Video 1 of my scatting tutorial series.

Even if you don’t sing jazz you’ll still get a lot out of today’s video because you need to get quite a few technical things happening before you can Scat and so learning this stuff will help you overall singing ability.

PRACTICE STEP:

Pic two scat syllables to use

Sing a major scale up using them as your quavers

Then add in the crotchet note at the start of the scale

Once you’ve got this down and your scatting sounds pretty rhythmic, then INCREASE YOUR SPEED! You can scat sooo much faster than you can sing lyrics so have fun with this!

HOW DID YOU GO?

Let me know if you liked this jazzy vid in the comments below and if you’d like more technique stuff like this or if you want me to do a video on a topic just for you.

xx
