Let’s Sing a Dominant 7 Scale


Last lesson we looked at pitching Major 7th arpeggios. Today we’re doing DOMINANT 7th arpeggios, which means in a scale of 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8 we are going to flatten the 7th. in C major for example, this would look like C,D,E,F,G,A,Bb,C.

Dominant scales/ chords/ arpeggios are commonly found in blues and jazz. A 12 bar blues is usually made up entirely of dominant chords so if you intend to sing over a 12 bar blues progression, write songs or improvise over it then you need to get a grasp on dominant 7ths.
