Warm Up Exercise for Beginner Singers
In this video, I’ll take you through a simple but effective warm up exercise for beginner singers.
I’ll start off singing the exercise with you and then you can take over.
Make sure you do the whole exercise and watch until the end of the video for more tips on how to get the most out of this exercise.
The vowels we are using are: Yah, Yoh and Yoo.
I hope you find this video fun and useful.
Happy singing!
Nicola xx
Practice Tip: You can do this exercise using different vowels like Mee, Moh and Moo or Ree, Roh and Roo. Both require slightly different vocal placement so its a good idea to mix things up a bit.
In the video you execute the practice sounds in the reverse order of how they are listed on the webpage. This had me confused as to why I kept messing up the sounds when I had them on a white-board in front of me.
Really appreciate your good tips and advice as well as instructions. I used to sing but now that I am in my late 70’s found I was having trouble with my throat and cracking in my voice when I reached intermediate voice. Thank you, you are very helpful.
