“OMG! OMG I just stuffed up… on stage! Everyone’s watching…. they think I suck!!! OMG! OMG! Get me outta here right now!!!”
Sound like a familiar scenario?
Yeah, we’ve all been there. In fact stuffing up on stage is just part of being a singer.
I stuff up all the time, but what makes my ‘stuff ups’ ok is how I handle them.
No, I’m not about to just tell you ‘not to let the audience know you’ve made a mistake’ because let’s face it, sometimes mistakes are pretty darn obvious.
So in situations where you’ve sung the wrong words, missed your intro, forgotten the song, fallen off the stage or made some other ridiculously obvious faux pas, what do you do?
Watch today’s vid to find out.

Nice video….I do sing in syllables or vowels at times when I forget the lyrics…at this last performance also mixed up with the progression….like I had to go to the second verse but instead started singing the chorus again….so then I again sang the chorus, the bridge and then got to the second verse…but this one was still manageable as I was performing alone……and making up the lyrics is a really good option but just that it requires a good stage confidence which should come with time and effort…I usually repeat the lyrics in a song when I forget them..like singing the second verse with the lyrics of the first verse.so basically I just mirror it…..Sometimes when I’m playing in front of friends and the song is a new tune I just composed but for which I haven’t written the lyrics, I just sing the words that come to me when I think of the composition..the sentences are random at times and disconnected….and I have also done a few covers for which I didn’t know the lyrics, like to the whole song, and in th end sometimes my friends would tell me that I should be doing this song more often and then is when I tell them the reason for not doing it, which is the lyrics are not known to me or I haven’t yet written them………and then they surprisingly tell me that they didn’t figure that out….but on stage I think I haven’t had the courage to do that unless it’s a request song and I have told them that I haven’t heard the song much….so it’s a lot about confidence and to be less conscious of the world around….also about knowing your self-worth….and for me presently, all these parameters are like variables…..they keep on changing from time to time…..just like stocks in a share market…I am working on it and some time soon I’d like to be at least the prices of oil….a bit stable….I’ve realized that it has also got to do with the kind of places you choose to perform..not every place is meant for everyone I think….but usually Musicians in the beginning of their careers go about performing anywhere….I could just go on and on about this..I am so full of so many things right now and confused at the same time….but I’ll stop as already I have written so much…I think I’d rather write an article today……but thanks a lot for sharing your experiences…..you and your videos always bring along a positive side and a vibe to everything…….all the very best to you for the future..cheers !!!
Thanks for sharing Sarthak! 🙂
